Uh, yeah, that's the original lyric
At about 01:54 in that is the N-word. It was the first word in the first verse of the first song. That was intentional. It was not just "A different time." It was not a polite word even in the 1930s and was featured so immediately so the audience would be jarred right away and forced to face racism from the time the curtain went up.
Later versions substituted more polite terms ... barely.
When John McGlin restored the text he spent a lot of time confronting this particular use of the term. No ducking the issue.
Recording has a funny hollow, echo on it and a variety of intermittent clicks. Still, well worth the listen of this abbreviated version if you can accept the sound quality. Better than the Lux Radio version (or is that Director's Playhouse?).
